Balkan viđen očima zapadne Evrope

Nedavno je u izdanju Mirovnog instituta iz Ljubljane objavljena knjiga "A long way home: Representations of the Western Balkans in Political and Media Discourses".

The attitude of member states towards individual candidate countries is ambivalent and dependent on the concrete interests of each eu member. By and large, it can be said that the attitudes range from paternalistic support to pressure, conditioning and control.
(...)
In discourses through which the identity of contemporary Europe (that is, the EU) is shaped and legitimized, the Balkans have also increasingly become part of the “third world” – numerous researchers concur with the view that the “representation of the Balkans as the ‘European third world zone’ helped create the impression of so urgently needed collective identity and the sense of the European Union.”

Pošto je cela knjiga slobodno dostupna u e-formatu, možete je preuzeti i čitati ovde.
Mene na najpozitivniji način podseća na knjige Marije Todorove i Edvarda Saida. Korišćen je i Fukoov pristup analizi diskursa. U svakom slučaju, značajan doprinos prevazilaženju crno-belog pogleda na pitanje EU integracija i uloge medija u tom procesu.
