Serbian Press Council

Establishing Serbian Press Council has been a long story.

Actually, it has started soon after the October 5, 2000 changes in Serbia (in the photo, the cover of daily Blic - which is today celebrating its 15th anniversary - from October 6, 2000).

With the support of Norway, the Press Council has finally started its work and receiving complaints yesterday.

It remains to be seen what would be the Council's impact on Serbian media scene. (For accountability issues and the state of affairs in Serbian print media and beyond, I recommend our study on Serbian Media Landscape).

Let's hope that some of the experiences and good practices from Norwegian Press Council will be implemented in Serbian context too.
